Standard Illinois Concealed Carry Class
(we also offer 8 hour class and 3 hour renewal class)
Our Illinois CCL Class satisfies the state training requirement to apply for your IL carry license. This class is designed to effectively communicate to you the wide variety of information required for concealed carry in an interesting and engaging way. You will be surprised how fast the 16 hours fly by! We want you to walk away with a deep understanding of the responsibility that comes with carrying a firearm, and all the legal ramifications. Our informative, knowledgeable, and experienced instructors can answer your questions and help you feel more confident and better prepared for the next steps in the process.
This Class Covers:
Law Enforcement Interactions Guidance on appropriate and lawful interaction with police while transporting or carrying a concealed firearm.
Firearm Safety
How to keep yourself and others safe when handling guns.
How to Shoot
Sight alignment, sight picture, and stance.
Operation & Maintenance
Care, cleaning, loading, and unloading of a concealable firearm.
Legal Requirements
All applicable state & federal laws relating to the ownership, storage, carry, and transportation of firearms.
A FOID card is not required
Requirements
- You must be familiar with, and be able to safely operate, handguns before coming to this class. (Not quite ready for that yet? You can take our NRA Basic Pistol Classes)
- You must show up on time each day. The state requires 16 complete hours of training.
- You must be over 21 or turning 21 within 90 days.
- You must have a valid FOID, State ID, or Driver’s License.
- Bring pen and paper.
- Eye and ear protection
- 30 rounds of ammunition
- A firearm unloaded and in a case. We have several guns available if you do not own something suitable.
At the end of class, after you pass your qualification shoot, you will be given a certificate of training that will need to be uploaded into your concealed carry license application on the ISPFSB website.
Qualification
The Illinois Concealed Carry License Qualification Shoot Requires 30 Rounds of Ammunition. You Must Shoot at a B-27 Silhouette Target:
- 10 rounds from a distance of 5 yards
- 10 rounds from a distance of 7 yards
- 10 rounds from a distance of 10 yards
TO PASS YOU MUST SHOOT WITH AT LEAST 70% ACCURACY.
This means at least 21 of your 30 rounds must fall within the 16″ x 22″ outer (7) ring of the standard B-27 target. If you fail you must complete a higher-level basic pistol training or private instruction class before you will be allowed to re-shoot the qualification.
